Mark Karan is best known for performing with the extended Grateful Dead family. For the last twelve years, he has anchored the lead guitar slot in Bob Weir & RatDog, playing hundreds of shows to thousands of fans year-round. Before crossing over into the land of the Dead, Mark worked his guitar and vocal voodoo for the likes of Dave Mason, Delaney Bramlett, the Rembrandts, Paul Carrack, Huey Lewis, Jesse Colin Young and Sophie B. Hawkins.

Mark also tours with an array of amazing musicians on his own, where his soulful blues-based vocal stylings and inspired guitar work meld with the remarkably creative and responsive playing of his friends in a passionate delivery of the psychedelicized sounds of Americana. This is where rock meets R&B and country and mixes with the soul of New Orleans… with healthy portions of reggae, folk, funk and whatever else the muse might bring.

Bonzo Terks

VIEW ARTIST WEBSITE

Bonzo Terks was conceived at a house party in Dekalb, IL. without any romance or chivalry. The floor was dirty, and people were watching. The year was 2009. Since the initial instance of adultery, a birthing occurred. It was a little messy and some complications were had, but the young Bonzo Terks was incubated and sustained so that a healthy and wild life could be lived. In Novemeber of that faithful month, Bonzo Terks came home from the hospital to Chicago, IL. The guilty parties describe Bonzo Terks as "Free/Groove/Exploder." By blending the unstoppable force of free jazz with the cohesion of grooves, explosions happen and everyone giggles with glee. The audience can never be ready. Always mutating, pulsating, recapitulating, boiling, gurgling, spewing but never compromising, Bonzo Terks is what you come to love, even if you don't understand it. Bonzo Terks is still Snake Pliskin meets Owl Statues meets Memetic Consciousness meets Too Many Delay Pedals. meets Yellow Teeth meets Ritz and Peanut Butter.

Flatland Harmony Experiment

Flatland Harmony Experiment

Flatland Harmony Experiment is a new bluegrass driven string band based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. FHE started in 2011 on a cool summer night when three musicians came together at an outdoor acoustic jam. Trading songs and singing together with ease just felt right. So much so that plans to get together were made to explore and see if there were any exciting musical chemistry. We played a bunch of songs and recorded that first session. A common thread of energy and three part harmonies were there from the beginning. It was mixed down and the CD was labeled “Flatland Harmony Experiment”. From there a band was born.

In the first three months FHE played 3 festivals, opened for 2 national acts and recorded, mixed and released an all original ep. 2012 has began and will continue to be amazing for the Flatland Harmony Experiment. 12 regional festivals, club dates, and house concerts will bring FHE to a venue near you soon. We have been so fortunate to share bills and most importantly music with many friends and countless musical heroes and look forward to the future collaborations yet to come.

Cosmic Railroad

Cosmic RailroadA band, a show, a song - An original Jam band with an organic and adventurous improvisational style. Every show is created in the moment, never knowing what the next moment will bring.

A Cosmic Railroad show is an experience in itself. No one, not even the band knows what’s going to happen next. They are a true jam band to say the least. The band plays from the seat of their pants night after night. The show will usually start with a crowd favorite just to get everyone moving. After that, who knows? The band plays for the moment and the next song is chosen on the spot, sometimes even choosing itself without the band realizing it.

CR is an original jam band. Mostly the songs that you would hear at a Cosmic Railroad show are just that, original. The band uses these songs as a jumping off point, sometimes taking them into very different directions from the last time it may have been played. Other times, who knows? To the band, it doesn’t really matter who actually writes a particular song, they view all of them as Cosmic Railroad.
